Albert Herring

With professional soloists and orchestra, Surrey Opera will present a sparkling new production of Benjamin Britten's comic opera, Albert Herring.

A small town in Suffolk, unable to find a girl of sufficient virtue to crown as May Queen, crowns Albert Herring as May King instead.

At the festival, Albert drinks his favourite lemonade which, unknown to him, has been laced with rum. He then changes from a meek son into an independent man.
